big week, big month, big year.

September 18, 2008

So I was saying the other day that if I could just get through October I would be able to rest…then Ashley reminded me that our son will be here in November!! I don’t think I will be getting much rest then. Oh Well, I’ll sleep when I die!

The next few months are really some of the most exciting times of my life because of my soon to be born first child, Will. I can’t put into words how excited I am! My new buddy and “Mini-me” will be here soon!!!!!!

I know every blogger in the blogging world is probably going to post today about 9/11 and I’m gonna have to go ahead and lump myself in with them. I can’t believe it has been 7 years. I remember where I was like it was yesterday. I had a morning class at JSU and when I walked in everyone was talking about the first plane and I remember them saying it had flown into the world trade center and I was like “OK…yeah, it did.”

Then after class I went to our student commons area to eat and there were people everywhere surrounding the TVs. Once I saw the actual footage it hit me that this was for real and we were under attack. I had never known what that felt like but I immediately thought about my dad who was on the road through Atlanta. By this time, however, all flights were grounded. He actually had to go pick up some friends who were dropped in Atlanta. Our baseball practice was cancelled that day and rightfully so. I remember our coach saying he wanted to be home when his kids returned from school to answer whatever questions they had. It was such an unbelievable day. I watched as both towers fell and just couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I had heard a family friend who was a veteran say before that he would go back to war to keep that stuff from being here…but now it was. I have since then been to Ground Zero and that really put the whole thing into perspective for me even more. So much was lost and I saw it.

I do believe that we are safer now than then and really hope that we continue to advance in the fight against terror. It’s so hard because at times we can’t identify our enemy. Since this is a political time I have heard some say that they wish Americans would rally together again as we did then in spite of political affiliation but my thoughts on that are a little different. I wish we would as people turn to God the way the world did then.

I’ve been in a easy listening/piano type of mood lately when it comes to my choice of music. Just thought I would share what’s been occupying my ears and encourage you to have a listen yourself.

I think it is absolutely hilarious that my posts on UGA 7 received more hits and views than that of my recent political post below….that’s great and I love it.

Speaking of the election, I picked us up some McCain buttons and even a yard sign yesterday from the Republican headquarters. We are officially prepared for the campaign. I personally am ready for the debates…those are my favorite and I think Barack Obama may get his lunch ate in those just like he did by Bill O’Reilly.

If you haven’t noticed or if you even care, my posts have slowed down as of late but I plan to pick them back up. The reason for said “slow down” has probably been my schedule. The FDL boys have been coming and going a lot lately and in between all that I try to rest when not working. We do have about a two week break coming up before we hit it again to wind up this fall season. Did I mention at the end of these run of shows, little “Will” shall be arriving in all his glory. I think he is ready to come out because he has been “kicking” his mother’s rear end if you know what I mean.

One thing I hope to accomplish in the previously mentioned 2 week break is sitting in Sanford Stadium for the Georgia/Alabama game. I have a few friends looking for tickets for me…do you have any??

IF so, I need to know!!

obama’s change.

Let me start by saying that I’m not the political voice. I am Republican and I usually look over the options or in this case, the candidates, and choose the best one that lines up with what I believe is best for the country and go about my business. I’ll say again, I’m not the usual political mouth…I leave that to my wife who is actually good at it. However, I have become very interested, involved and compelled by our election as of late. Today while listening to Rick and Bubba I heard about an article by Thomas Sowell and I knew I just had to share it on here. This, unlike what I have been hearing from the dems, makes sense. This is perfect example of why I am Republican and will be voting as such in November.

Check out this very good article here.

Now, I realize that by opening up this type of topic I also open up the floor for comments…just keep in mind who approves said comments and know that this will not turn into a Democrat sounding off platform. That’s the beauty of MY blog…I control it.

Some new photos of UGA VII are out. His debut was a successful one with a win over Georgia Southern…let’s just hope these winning ways continue this season. I really like the look of the new UGA…he looks a lot like his father (UGA VI) but still has a young look as well.

What do you think?
