If you love good, moving worship music then you need to listen up. Phil Wickham just recorded and released a new live album and it is phenomenal. There is literally not a bad song on it. It’s just him, acoustic guitar and about 3000 people singing…awesome. But, here is the even better part…he is giving this album away for FREE!! Completely free of charge…just go to his website here and click download, enter your email and they send you the link…that’s it. I am hoping that many other artists will do this type of thing in the future. Let me say that we have already had this idea and will do it eventually one day so when we do, know that we weren’t copying anyone.

Seriously though, go download it now and enjoy…my favorite song is “Beautiful.”

August 21, 2008

I was able to step up to the Blackberry Curve today. My cell phone experience just got a whole lot better.

cool news.

August 19, 2008

It is official…I am an endorsed artist for Attack Drumheads. Some people may not get this but this is a pretty big deal for me as a drummer. Kinda means that some company that makes good drum stuff thinks I am not completely terrible and doesn’t mind saying that I use their stuff. I have some other deals I am working on and hopefully those will work out as well but this is the first. Pretty cool.

new model for youth ministry.

August 12, 2008

I have added two books to my current reading list. I am juggling too many, by the way. But, those two books are by Reid Ward and Steve Wright. Reid has been a long time friend of our ministry for years. I even highlighted his new book previously on here. We just met Steve this past weekend but quickly realized that he was right in the vein of what Reid has been preaching and teaching us for quite some time now. These guys are really re-working the current youth ministry model and in my opinion are pretty revolutionary on this topic.

I am going to continue to outline some of the thoughts these guys have on youth ministry. Hearing them talk this weekend was great. They are so educated and experienced and know their stuff. I would encourage you, if you are involved in youth ministry in any way shape or form, to read these two books. Here are links to purchase them:

Legacy Leadership: Principles For Leaving a Spiritual Legacy by Reid Ward
reTHINK – Is Student Ministry Working? by Steve Wright

amazing.

August 8, 2008

Last night Ashley and I sat and watched the Steven Curtis Chapman family on Larry King Live. I was so blown away by every member of this family. They are such good people and it is so sad what they are going through. We have always heard that SCC was the “real deal” as we like to say and when we had the opportunity to meet him, we found that to be absolutely true.

We even sat behind him and Mary Beth at worship night at GMA and worshipped with them and saw how real they were while no one is watching. And, I can honestly say that after meeting him, seeing all this, and seeing their reaction…that I hope one day people look at me and my family and think about what amazing good people we are…about what a good man I am.

The family did so well with handling Larry King’s questions and sometimes cutoffs and I really believe that someone was reached for the cause of Christ through the interview….it was just amazing. Steven has recorded a new verse to his song, “Yours” off of his new album and you can download it on itunes. All the proceeds and even SCC’s royalties go to Shohannah’s Hope. I have included a photo of the paper where he wrote the second verse.

Foxsports.com just posted this little photo gallery of the 10 toughest places to play in college football…check it out here. No surprise for me that it was dominated by SEC teams…including the “hedges.”
