this ain’t no recession.

July 8, 2008

Here is a quote from John Stossel of ABC News’ “20/20” concerning our current economic state:

America is not in recession, and who knows – maybe we’ll be less likely to have one if my compatriots would just chill. A recession is defined as two quarters of negative economic growth. We haven’t even had one quarter of negative growth.

The more people hear such inappropriate comparisons, the more apt they are to believe them and change their behavior accordingly – investing less and taking fewer economic risks – thereby aggravating bad economic conditions.

Good point…all you media tyrants need to settle down and quit scaring John Q. American.

Remember John Q…that was a good movie.

yeah, and the first thing that will happen when the new president takes office is the economy will boom. unfortunately, then the media will give all praise to the new president for “making that happen.” i wish voters would do their homework for themselves and try not to buy into everything the media tells us. bye!

Good point Ashley… and good blog Joel. I just hope that rational thinking, conservative minds and just good ole common sense will prevail when people go into the voting booths… and that we all recognize a smoke screen when we see it. I truly think that will happen and that everyone will see, once again, that those with that common sense may be quieter during the pre-election “hype season” but we speak much louder when we exercise our right to cast a vote for the right candidate.
