just for erik green.

April 29, 2008

The following was on today:

Catching up with the best of the worst from the past week in sports:

Los Angeles Dodgers: It’s pretty obvious that they were Jonesin’ for the wrong Atlanta Braves mainstay when they parted with $14.7 million. Andruw Jones, 31, carried a .162 average with 1 homer, 3 RBIs and 25 whiffs in 74 at-bats into the weekend, has looked chunky since arriving at spring training and has added less to the lineup thus far than a cymbals player in Nine Inch Nails. You would have thought L.A. might have taken the hint when the career .261 hitter fell off to .222 in his walk year. Meanwhile, Chipper Jones is tearing the cover off the ball for the Braves for $12.3 million.

-Enjoy him, Erik!

worth mentioning.

I don’t know why I haven’t thought about it before or why I have waited until now to mention it but…check out the World Vision logo to the right. We have been Artist Associates of World Vision for about a year now and Ashley and I have sponsored our child for about 5 1/2 years. His name is Nelson Segura Matos and he lives in the Dominican Republic. It has been such a blessing for us to be a part of what World Vision is doing to impact needy children and the $30 a month sacrifice is so small for what it does. World Vision is a great organization as are many other child sponsorship organizations and we are proud to be involved with what they are doing.

If you have been looking for an opportunity to be involved with something like this, click the link and start today.

Well, Robby whipped everybody today on the movie quote. The answer was Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. Way to go, Robby. Does anyone else read these? I am beginning to wonder if my little game is in vain. I stopped by this afternoon and listened in on Gold City’s vocal tracking session. These guys can flat get it done…awesome singers. Their new album is going to be great featuring new lead singer and friend, Bruce Taliaferro. Here’s a picture of Danny’s (baritone for GC) daughter, Sadie aka my wife’s favorite person, with the headphones on at the studio.

Movie Quote Monday #6

April 28, 2008

No winners last week. Lets see some players show up this week.

“Well my friend Sweet Jay took me to that video arcade in town, right, and they don’t speak English there, so Jay got into a fight and he’s all, “Hey quit hasslin’ me cuz’ I don’t speak French” or whatever! And then the guy said something in Paris talk, and I’m like, “Just back off!” And they’re all, “Get out!” And we’re like, “Make me!” It was cool.”

i am disappointed.

April 26, 2008

No one answered this weeks Movie Quote and it was an absolute gimme. You all need to step it up a notch. I knew we would clean today and we did…the entire garage. So not only am I tired but I am sneezing from all the dust blowing. Awesome.

Also, if anyone is reading and has a blog, comment with your address so I can add you to my blogroll! I am listening to this new song by Leona Lewis, “Bleeding Love”…Ashley got me hooked on it and it’s actually a pretty good tune.

nice saturday.

April 26, 2008

Since we are home for the weekend, Ashley is making a list of things for us to do and things for us to get at Wal-Mart…we’re about to head there now. Ashley went with me last night down to WDJC for an on-air appearance on the Jon Walden Show. It went great and we all ate at Jim N’ Nicks before the show…that is one of my favorite places to eat for those who didn’t know. The cheese biscuits are now complimentary and are worth the trip themselves alone.

During the show, we gave away a cd to the “fourth” caller and it really made me nervous because I was thinking, “What if no one calls in and wants the cd” but was very happy when all the lines lit up immediately. Maybe we are getting somewhere with this whole thing. We are doing a photo shoot tomorrow in Atlanta and I am actually looking forward to that. I think we may get on a roof top for some shots…that could be cool. Maybe Adam won’t freak out because he is scared of heights.

Anyway, back to Saturday…We’ll probably rent a movie of some sort or maybe get one on DirecTV, play with Jack some, definitely clean (Ashley thinks that is having fun), hopefully watch the Braves, etc, etc then church in the morning. So as Will Ferrell said on Old School…”pretty busy Saturday, maybe Home Depot too, I don’t know…I don’t know if we’ll have time!”

April 24, 2008

So I am sitting here working on the video from the weekend to make a new podcast and I have things looking good…lots of edits, music, clips, funny stuff and then the program just closes. And, oh yes, when I opened it back up…none of that hours worth of work was saved. Awesome.

The Doves (The Gospel Music Association Awards) were pretty good. I would have liked to have seen some other winners and would have liked a few more performances from my favorites but other than that it was good. The David Crowder* Band performance was the highlight of all the performers and I thought the Michael W. Smith tribute was classy. We know Smitty’s in-laws…does that count for cool points?

By the way, today I made the purchase of a Nikon D40X.

My photos are about to get really awesome. I have always liked photography and I think this may just throw me in a little more…stay tuned. Also, where are the movie quote players? I practically gave you one!

late night.

April 23, 2008

So I gave my blog a new lookie…me likey. The main reason I am up late is because I threw Jack’s ball for him this afternoon and my elbow and shoulder now hurt as if I just threw 9 complete innings of shutout baseball. Maybe I need to ice down.

I love Nashville.

April 22, 2008

We were in Nashville this weekend. If you want an update of all that went on for the band you’ll have to check the band blog…link is over there>>>. Here are some photos from mine and Robby’s day yesterday around town.

We ate at Jack’s Barbeque for “lupper”…that is what comes between lunch and supper when you don’t eat lunch at the correct time of the day or if the lunch you do have is terrible…our situation was the latter. I know barbeque pretty well and I think that gives me the credibility to say this was just OK for me. But, I will give them another shot one day. The other photo is the front window of Gruhn’s Guitar shop. I’ll just say this…a “cheap” guitar in here is around $1500.

We ended the night with seeing Jars of Clay, Switchfoot and Third Day in concert at The Wildhorse Saloon. This was a awesome place to see a concert…great atmosphere. I didn’t realize it at the time but this was my first time seeing Jars live…they were great. Switchfoot blew me, and everyone else there for that matter, away! I snapped the above photo while frontman Jon Foreman was standing on a table out in the crowd singing. They do a lot of cool stuff with their pedals and etc. Third Day, as always, did not disappoint. Mark Lee is doing an awesome job at being the lone electric guitar player for the band. I also loved the new songs.

Nashville is awesome…music everywhere…seriously.

Movie Quote Monday #5 (on Tuesday)

April 22, 2008

Sorry for the delay…GMA yesterday…you understand, I hope. This will probably be easy:

“All you can handle, bro.”

April 18, 2008

I can’t go to a Minor League Baseball game and not think of the classic baseball movie, Bull Durham. I have already included a line or two from this movie in my Movie Quote Mondays. Here is one of my favorite parts of the movie when Crash (Kevin Costner) tells the batter what pitch is coming…hilarious!

I love that assistant coach…”Settle down, boy…take your time.”

Rome Braves

April 18, 2008

Ashley and I went tonight to see the Rome Braves. We had a great time. If you live nearby and have never been…you really should go. The park and stadium are both top notch and you can sit in the field level for only $8. I also had my usual 2 hot dogs and a bag of Cracker Jacks. It was a good night to be at the ballpark. I took a couple of photos but will have to post them later when I have more time. I need to get in the bed and get some sleep because of an early morning tomorrow as we head to Music City USA for GMA Week 2008.

Varsity prayer.

April 15, 2008

Dear God, Thank you for my “3 naked steaks, strings and Coke” from the Varsity yesterday. It was really good. Amen.

For interpretation of “in quote” items go here.

Currently listening…and more.

April 14, 2008

I’m listening to Angels and Airwaves…Robby introduced me. I had actually heard their song on MTVs “Two-A-Days” and didn’t know it. This band is fronted by former Blink 182 frontman, Tom De Longe. His singing is very good for this style and these guys bring out some U2 delay guitar sounds that make me shake my head “yeah.” Also, the drum tones on the songs I downloaded are phenom…that’s short for phenomenal. Some of their sounds remind me of stuff we would do or have done.

Also, Paul Liem is playing with Austins Bridge on Front Row Live and is “killing it” as Doug Riley would say. Paul was his favorite drummer…Doug was mine. Here’s a photo of both of them at a session

Movie Quote Monday #4

April 14, 2008

“You can’t always trust the people you want to.”

Note: This is the final week of Adam’s two week suspension and also, the bar has officially been raised.

UPDATE: Robby got it…10 Things I hate about you. I have actually never seen it but looked up quotes that were fitting to my feeling at the time.

I have been in 5 states since yesterday!

April 11, 2008

We are in Missouri this weekend but had to go through 4 other states to get here. Here is a pic of me in front of a radio station in Fayetteville, Arkansas that we visited this morning called KLRC 101.1.
